Lexington Wine Co. brings wines born of high-elevation mountain vineyards in the heart of the Santa Cruz Mountain AVA. It is our goal to offer wines that are singularly distinctive and representative of the remote and beautiful land that we farm.

Gist Ranch Estate, home to Lexington wines, is located on the Pacific Plate in Santa Cruz County at an elevation of 2,400ft. The Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon vines were planted by the Fogarty family in 2000, and were carefully farmed to establish optimal organic, sustainable farming practices for ten years before the first release in 2011. The wines are grown and made to be expressive, traditional, energetic and unapologetically not “conventionally Californian,” with vibrant fruit, energy, complexity and depth.

“The wines lean towards the fresher, more medium-bodied, elegant end of the spectrum; they are beautifully made and will have lengthy drink windows.”
-Jeb Dunnuck,
eRobertParkerOnline/Wine Advocate, 2015

Lexington has its conceptual origins in the late 1970s, when Thomas Fogarty and Michael Martella founded Thomas Fogarty Winery. At that time they sought knowledge from Paul Draper (Ridge) and Jeffrey Patterson (Mount Eden), who were recognized pioneers of the region. During this period, Fogarty and Martella grew to love the Bordeaux varietals produced by Ridge and Mount Eden. They knew that the property they farmed was too cold to be suitable for wines of this type, but were determined to one day establish a vineyard planted to Bordeaux varieties. Today Tom Fogarty, Jr and Nathan Kandler are the keepers of this vision and they carry it forward with the exacting and high standards set years ago.

The wines are available directly from Lexington Wine Co through an allocation program. With confidence and excitement we invite you to try these wines.
